Mario's Weather — Privacy Policy

Mario's Weather is developed by HeadSoft Tech ("we", "us"), published under the package name net.headsoft.mariosweather on Android and the same bundle identifier on iOS. This policy covers the Mario's Weather apps only — for the HeadSoft Tech website, see our general privacy policy. Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to hello@headsoft.net.

Mario's Weather collects two kinds of information:

• Your device's location, to find weather stations and forecast data near you — see below.
• Usage analytics, via Google Firebase Analytics — see below.

Favourite places, your preferred station for each one, and appearance settings are stored only on your device, never sent to us. The app has no account or sign-in system.

With your permission, the app reads your device's GPS location (via the platform's own location service, not Google Play Services) to find nearby weather stations and show a forecast for where you are. Your coordinates are sent, on demand, to three keyless public services: aviationweather.gov for live ground-station (METAR) readings, Open-Meteo for forecasts, radar and air-quality data, and — only when you search for a place by name to add a favourite — Photon (Komoot/OpenStreetMap) for place search. None of these services requires an account, and the app sends only the coordinates or search text needed to answer the request. You can deny or revoke location access at any time in your device's app permissions; the app then falls back to manually chosen or favourited places.

Mario's Weather uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand which features are actually used, so we know what's worth improving. It records anonymous, aggregated events — for example opening the radar map, adding a favourite, or switching stations. These events are not tied to your name, email or any account (the app has none), though Firebase may associate them with a device identifier and coarse, IP-derived location under Google's own privacy policy. You can reset or limit this at the device level through your Google Account's ad settings (Settings → Google → Ads), or by uninstalling the app.

Your favourite places, the preferred weather station for each one, and appearance settings are stored locally in the app's own preferences (and, on iOS, an App Group container so the home-screen widget can read them). None of this is uploaded to HeadSoft or any server we control. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in your device's settings, removes all of it.

• Google Firebase Analytics: anonymous usage events, as described above.
• aviationweather.gov: live METAR ground-station readings near your location.
• Open-Meteo: forecast, radar and air-quality data for your location.
• Photon (Komoot/OpenStreetMap): place-name search when adding a favourite.

We do not sell or share your data with advertisers, and the app carries no advertising SDK.

Mario's Weather is a general-purpose weather utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

On-device settings and favourites persist until you uninstall the app or clear its data in your device's settings. Analytics events are retained by Google Firebase under its own data-retention settings; see Google's privacy and data policies for specifics.

Because almost everything the app stores lives only on your device, the most direct way to remove your data is to uninstall the app or clear its storage. For anything else — including analytics data associated with your device — contact hello@headsoft.net and we'll help.

If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
